Cricket betting at nubo — a complete guide to betting on T20, ODI and Test matches
From BPL to IPL, from the T20 World Cup to Test series — nubo covers all the major cricket tournaments for betting. Understand the markets, learn the odds, and enjoy live betting.
Cricket formats and major tournaments
Understanding the format of the game is important for cricket betting, because the types of markets and odds differ across formats.
T20 is the fastest format — in a 20-over match, the situation can shift on any ball. BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup are the most prominent tournaments in this format. BPL holds a special appeal for Bangladeshi bettors, as every match carries a local connection.
ODI, or One Day International, is a 50-over contest. There is more room for strategy here, which gives rise to different kinds of markets — such as runs per over, total runs in the powerplay, or mid-game momentum shifts.
Test cricket is a five-day game of patience. In this format, a draw is a normal outcome, so markets carry three possible results — Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw. Bangladesh Tigers' Test series appear regularly in nubo's sports section.
ICC international tournaments are also covered on nubo — particularly during the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy, when the number of markets in the sports section increases noticeably.
Football and other sports betting
nubo is not limited to cricket — you can also bet on football, tennis, badminton and several other sports. However, the betting structure for cricket and football is quite different.
Football typically offers three possible outcomes — Team A wins, Team B wins, or a draw. In a 90-minute match, separate markets open for before and after the break, such as the half-time result or total number of goals.
T20 cricket has no possibility of a draw — there are only two outcomes, so the odds are structured differently. A falling wicket, a mid-over momentum shift, or the dew factor are among the elements that make cricket betting more dynamic.
For newcomers, starting with cricket is relatively straightforward, since most Bangladeshi sports fans are already familiar with the rules of the game.
Cricket vs Football
- T20 has two outcomes; football has three (including a draw)
- In cricket, odds shift quickly when a wicket falls
- In football, half-time creates separate markets
- Test matches run five days and offer far more markets
Popular betting markets explained
In nubo's cricket section, several markets are active simultaneously for each match. Below is a brief overview of the most commonly used markets.
Match Winner
A bet on which team will win the match. In T20 there are only two options — Team A or Team B. The simplest market available.
Simple MarketToss Winner
A bet on the outcome of the toss before the match starts. Team A or Team B — since it is a 50-50 chance, the odds are usually very close.
Pre-MatchTop Run Scorer
A bet on which batter from which team will score the most runs. Understanding a team's batting order is useful here.
Player MarketTotal Runs Over/Under
A bet on whether the total runs scored will be above or below a set number (e.g. 165). Pitch conditions and weather play an important role here.
Line MarketMulti Bet
Combining selections from several matches into one bet. If all selections are correct, the return is much higher — but if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost.
Multiple MatchesInnings Runs
A bet on how many runs a team will score within a set number of overs in an innings. The powerplay market is a popular variation of this type.
Innings MarketMulti bet example
Three selections are made across three different matches — decimal odds of 1.40, 1.80 and 1.90. The combined odds are 1.40 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 4.79 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳479 if all selections are correct — but if any one of them is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost. (This is an illustration only; actual results are not guaranteed.)
How to understand odds
Odds on betting sites appear in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. At nubo, the decimal format is the most straightforward, so beginners may want to start there.
Decimal odds: the number shows directly how much total return you get per ৳1 staked (stake included). Example: Team A's odds to win are 2.25 — a ৳500 bet returns ৳1,125 in total if you win (৳625 profit + ৳500 stake); if you lose, ৳500 is gone.
Fractional odds: in the same match, Team A's odds are 5/4 — meaning ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked. A ৳500 bet yields ৳625 profit.
American odds: in the same match, +125 means ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet. Negative odds apply to the favourite — Team B's odds of 1.25 decimal = 1/4 fractional = −400 American (meaning you must bet ৳400 to win ৳100). A ৳500 bet returns ৳625 in total if you win.
All three formats are simply different ways of expressing the same outcome — whether the number looks large or small depends on the format.
Comparing the three formats — at a glance
| Format | Team A (Underdog) | Team B (Favourite) | Return on ৳500 bet (if Team A wins) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | 1.25 | ৳1,125 |
| Fractional | 5/4 | 1/4 | ৳1,125 |
| American | +125 | −400 | ৳1,125 |
The figures above are examples only. In an actual match, odds will differ and are subject to change.
Live in-play betting
Live betting is the experience where odds change and new markets open up while the match is underway. In-play betting is active on nubo for major T20 and ODI matches.
After every wicket, every big six, or at the end of a powerplay, odds are adjusted automatically. If a team has scored 95 runs in 8 overs and lost only 1 wicket, their odds will shorten as their chance of winning appears higher.
In-play markets include options like: runs in the next over, who will take the next wicket, a six or four off any specific ball during the match — these moment-to-moment bets open quickly and close quickly, so decisions need to be made with a clear head.
One advantage of live betting is that you can make decisions based on how the match is unfolding. However, it is worth keeping in mind — placing larger bets under the pressure of fast decisions is not advisable. Betting is entertainment, not a profession.
nubo VIP membership gives access to more markets during live betting and also includes a weekly cashback benefit.
How live betting works
- When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds lengthen
- A big powerplay score can change who the favourite is
- Dew, pitch conditions and weather affect in-play odds
- Betting closes within a set time window
- Live betting is also available on the mobile app
Useful tips for cricket betting
Cricket betting is a form of entertainment. The tips below will help keep the experience straightforward and under control.
-
Start with one market. Beginners should focus on the Match Winner market first — it is simple and the result is easy to follow.
-
Set a budget. Decide in advance how much you will bet on each match and do not go beyond that limit.
-
Choose markets that suit the format. Total runs markets are more familiar in T20; session betting is more relevant in Test.
-
Keep track of pitch and weather news. A rain forecast or a spin-friendly pitch can influence toss decisions and batting order.
-
Be careful with multi bets. Combining three or more selections raises the potential return, but if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost.
-
Take breaks. After placing bets on several matches in a row, pause for a while. To bet responsibly, follow the responsible gaming guidelines.
Keep in mind
Cricket betting is for entertainment. No betting strategy guarantees a win. Think of betting as a form of enjoyment, not a source of income.
Be prepared for both wins and losses, and always bet within your means.
